A failed scientific experiment breached a rip in the fabric of space and time, a leak which permitted things to flow through from one reality to another. This lead to a rift between good and evil (light rejecting darkness in Musania, while darkness devoured all light within Mythlania), the emergence of two lords ruling on two thrones, and a very strange and chaotic war in the Empire of Istree, now besieged by incomprehensible creatures and forces from unknown dimensions...
Paradoxically, that same experiment also sealed the breach, thus bringing an end to the mess, allowing the two thrones to merge and the war to end. But though the leak only lasted a brief moment, its effect on time turned it into a century-long conflict -- a distorted instant which happened in the blink of an eye.
One may see this as a tragedy, because of all the deaths it entailed, and how it affected generations of innocent families. And yet... in the end, it brought the tyranny of Istree to its knees and, finally, its people were free.
